United Arab Emirates has a strategic plan to be self-sufficient in medical workforce and has embarked on residency training programs that are of the highest standards. In the interest of quality and optimal use of resources, all regulatory authorities (Department of Health (DOH), Dubai Health Authority [DHA] and Ministry of Health [MoH]) that are currently engaged in the training of resident physicians have decided to have a unified entry examination conducted by NIHS, UAE to identify potential trainees who are most likely and able to benefit from and contribute to rigorous and demanding residency training programs.

The United Arab Emirates University through the NIHS, UAE is organizing and providing this medical knowledge assessment on behalf of DOH, DHA and MOH. This website provides information and guidance to all potential candidates on the process for registration, preparation and participation for the examination.
